Wisdom teeth extraction procedures are
something that most of us want to avoid – whether simple or complicated, the
interventions performed to remove decayed or impacted wisdom teeth are never
much fun. Here is what to expect during and after the surgery:
- Things to know about the anesthesia – the anesthetic or sedative to be used will be chosen based on the condition of the tooth to be removed as well as based on what you want. Simple Park Ridge wisdom tooth removal procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia, while the removals that require serious surgery are usually performed under sedation;
-
The duration – simple
interventions usually take about an hour to perform, while more complex
removals can take over an hour;
-
Aftercare – it is
usually recommended to avoid driving after the intervention and it is a good
idea to take the day off work, too. Some activities, such as work-out, lifting heavy
objects and activities that require you to lean forward, are to be avoided,
just like hot baths and saunas. You should also stay away from foods and drinks
that are too hot or too cold, from dairy foods and from spicy foods. Do not
chew on anything hard for a few days and stay away from smoking and alcohol as
well.
